We Plan, God Laughs
I was going over my 2020 calendar earlier today and couldn’t help but to smile. Like many of you, I had my year planned from January through December. My goals and investments were all mapped out; from speaking engagements to trade-shows, personal and professional live coaching sessions, vacations and new places to visit, business and networking events, birthday parties, graduations, an engagement party leading up to a long-awaited wedding celebration and even my mom’s medical appointments. Never in a million years did I foresee a pandemic – or worst yet, losing my sweet mom and having to plan her funeral.
My friends, life is a fragile gift, with no guarantees. Like never before, I understand that we must let go of the life we have planned in order to embrace the life that awaits us. These past few months have been a humbling experience. Perhaps you are seeing the events of the past six months as going backwards. What if I told you that you are actually right on track? God does not make mistakes. We must get through a certain path to get to the ‘other side’.
I am eternally grateful for all the wonderful things God has given me and shown me not material things but life, friends, family, insight into my life, and the eyes to see people and things as they are. I am grateful every morning that I wake up, grateful for music, prayer, the word of God, health, strength, love, patience, compassion, laughter, kindness, and the peace within while coping with grief and loss.
I am grateful to have different streams of income through my traditional businesses as well as my network marketing business. Thanks to Zoom, Skype, and other video conferencing platforms, I have been able to continue my speaking engagements, coaching sessions, and team calls virtually. I am thankful for the growth and the expansion of my team and clients during this pandemic.
Albert Einstein says in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. Opportunities are all around you if you step away and look. If there is not a door to knock, make your own door. This is not the time to look at what you cannot do, what you do not have and complain about how things should be but rather the perfect time to be present and seize every moment. Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can. Stay present with God who is in this moment with you.
When you are stuck in a rut, climbing out of it is not the easiest feat. But just because it is not easy, does not mean it is impossible. If you are feeling lost, down, stuck, and hopeless, I want you to know that you matter. I want you to know that God will not forsake you or leave you. You are Loved. You are Enough. You are Worthy. DO NOT GIVE UP!
You are strong, dig deep within yourself. Decide that you are going to live and you are going to do everything it takes to get on the other side. You have the strength and willpower to envision brighter days and to make your dreams come true. Do not allow your adversary to become your identity. Whatever dark moment you are experiencing – keep in mind; “this too shall pass”. Whatever you are going through take it a day at a time. It is not permanent. Do not take failure or rejection personally. Divide and conquer. Think specific. Think of whatever you are going through as an isolated issue, not a huge, pervasive one. That will make it feel manageable and make it easier to tackle in a practical way. Untangle one string at a time.
Always remember that the human spirit holds strength beyond measure; the kind that will break down the walls and all the blocks that come your way. God’s grace is more than enough every day. Keep pushing, keep smiling and remember you are rewarded with life by The Most-High. Celebrate Life! Make time to smell the roses and do your best to be of service to others. Tomorrow is a new day. Reach out for your full potential. The potential lies in your inner strength. To get through the hardest journey we need to take only one step at a time, but we must keep stepping.
As we approach the Fourth Quarter, keep in mind that 2020 can still be your year. I pray that you expand your dreams to what you thought was possible.
We have been tested like never before, may kindness and love prevail in your heart.
God is love!
