Many years ago, God led me to make a decision that impacted my life in a profound way. When I was growing up in Haiti, my father was not around as much. He owned a jewellery store and worked really hard to provide for our family. Over the years, I watched my father’s health; relationships and overall family deteriorate due to the amount of hours he worked.
My dad didn’t have much time to spend in the home. When he came home at night he was tired. He worked 7 days a week! His years of absence took a toll on the entire family.
Many years later, the family was separated; my brothers were murdered; and my father lost his business. I ultimately moved to the United States absolutely alone as a 13 year old.
Growing up in a country where the rate of poverty is high, I learned the value of working hard, providing to others and being independent. Many years later, I naturally took on my father’s bad working habits. I worked long hours; I dedicated my life and time to my work. I worked hard to provide for myself and my family. Doing that made me feel powerful and strong!
After years of working to create a business, I became my work. Eventually I came face to face with a person I didn’t recognize in the mirror. My life was taking the same turn as my dad and the many workaholics I was surrounded by. My spiritual life, my health, and my relationships all were affected. Working so much took a tremendous toll on me.
I would often ask myself; Who am I? What do I really want? What life do I want to create? Whose life am I making better? When I decided to pay attention to my habits and to the people around me, I discovered that we were all in the same boat. We were working to live and living to work; stressing, paying bills and not living life. That was my defining moment!
My business was my baby. I moved close to my office to make it more convenient. I would go to the office at 6 AM one morning until 3 PM the following day. I was dedicated. Of course I had success but it came at a cost; a very high price that I wasn’t willing to keep paying. After years of working in a profession and building a business I was drained and tired; but worst of all, I felt empty. I started putting less and less energy into my business and eventually it led me to close my doors.
I didn’t have a Plan B. Some people call that irresponsible. I call it acting on faith. I knew I would be lead into a new path. After a year of praying and trying to figure out what was next? My prayers were answered.
During that year a lot of changes came. I was drowning in debt. I had to make a lot of sacrifice but I was determined to disrupt the patterns of my father. I was determined to find freedom.
One day I received an email from a friend inviting me to listen to a short pre-recorded message. He introduced me to a new concept called network marketing.
I remember previously attending a network marketing meeting that left me thinking; these folk are too happy, – this is a scam. I remember running out of there really fast and never looking back.
Now years later, I was being introduced to network marketing again. “No way”, I thought to myself. I’m too good for that. I want to remain corporate world. These folk don’t make money. They have products in their garage. All they do is sell to everyone they know. That’s not for me. I spent years building a business. I’m beyond MLM.
But out of respect for my friend, I decided to listen to the 5 minutes pre-recorded call. Besides, I had nothing to lose. I didn’t’ understand what the call was about. I went to the website. I still didn’t get it. I spoke to him; he explained the concept a little bit. I took about month to decide, but I eventually gathered the money and joined.
It’s important to remember I had no experience in network marketing. I joined the program with a dream and a vision. I wanted to create time freedom. I wanted to make a difference.
My first check was $75 and I remember being so excited. I knew this was the beginning of something big. I struggled the first few years. I lost some friends. My old business partners thought I was crazy. People laughed in my face. They talked behind my back. I was no longer invited to the who’s who of events.
I built a team only to have the majority of the people quit. I had many events where only a few people showed up. I invested back the money I was earning into traveling to support my team and sometimes only a few people would show up. I would hold conference calls with just a few people.
During those years one thing kept me sane; I believed! Those were the lonely years. I held on to my faith. I researched the network marketing industry and studied how it had worked for so many people. I trusted that it could and would work for me as well. I leaned on my mentors for support. I read books and watched videos. I turned my car into my university by listening to empowering audio books.
I made more calls than the average marketer. I was willing to commit and to work by network marketing business as a real business. I saw my $500 investment like any other investments I have made. I was committed to turning it into something BIG. Into a business that will pay me for years to come.
Years later, I am still building with the same mentors. The difference is, now I have built a team of thousands of people. The dream of creating time freedom didn’t stop with me, it happened for people on my team. God allowed me to create the same results for others. It brings me joy to see my team members at home with their children, attending the sports games or recitals. It brings me joy to watch the mechanic who worked 14 hours a day now in front of the room presenting, having time freedom and changing lives.
My dad didn’t have time for us because he was the provider but I can create for other families what my father strived for. His legacy lives on. My father passed away blind with his leg amputated due to the fact that he didn’t’ have time for his health. I can teach others how to have it all. To be present to their health, time and finances. Yes it’s possible.
Years later the NETWORK MARKETING INDUSTRY has allowed me to help others succeeds, to travel on my time, and to get paid while I’m sleeping.
If I can do it so can you. I’m not a college graduate, English is my 3rd language. I have been homeless, I have been broken, I’ve had to pick up and start over again many times. I moved to the U.S. at age 13 without mom and dad, but ALONE! If I can do it you can too.
Your dream shouldn’t die. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. I can tell you that your dreams can come true.
Why Network marketing?
Because it works! My dream was about becoming free. Network Marketing allows you to create what you want. There are no time clocks, no alarm clock, no rush hour traffic jams, and no bosses telling you what to do. It means waking up each day when you’re finished sleeping, and having a world of possibilities. With low start-up cost you can create the life that you desire.
People think that Network Marketing is hard or takes too long to build. They are unwilling to invest 3 to 9 years of their lives for a lifetime of freedom. But they are willing to stay broke for 20-40 years or live pay check to pay check for the rest of their lives. One way or the other, you must choose your definition of “hard”.
People ask me what has brought me success in Network Marketing. Maxandra, what is your secret?
The secret to my network marketing success is: LOVE. YES, LOVE!
Why love? Because you must be willing to help others achieve their dreams and goals in order for you to succeed. When people quit; love them anyway! When they lose hope; love them. When they are broken, love them and lead the way. It takes love to build a team. The great Zig Ziglar said; “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want”. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said; “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
I suggest today for you to ask yourself these questions:
- What do I really want?
- What life do I want to live and create?
- How do I want to make a difference?
In the end, always remember; if nothing changes then nothing changes. When you are financial free you will be empowered to help others achieve their goals. If you are not financially free, then you can’t take a stand to help yourself or to help others.
Always remember to live in the present and that, you too, hold the key to changing your life.
Love God, love yourself, and love others. With love, everything is possible!
